Came from Dondon Roque’s funeral Sunday night and was overwhelmed with hundreds of people waiting from outside because the room was packed.
Who would have thought that a simple man like Don Roque would leave such a lasting legacy that people flocked to pay their last respect to this man.
We heard his story last night. It was life changing.
Dondon was an orphan. His parents left him when he was 8 months old. He grew up seeking for love and in the process of seeking for love he learned how to love.
Dondon’s life was full of trials. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer but God miraculously healed him. One of the stories that was shared last night was when he was in the cancer ward he would go and visit other patients while he was hooked on an IV and share Jesus to them.
One time he was able to rescue a person who was about to commit suicide by grabbing on to the foot of the patient who was about to jump. He then shared Jesus to the patient.
During the time he had cancer, he never shared it to his family. He would visit the hospital alone because he did not want to burden his brothers and sisters.
Last December – after almost 37 years of not seeing his mother, Dondon was reunited with her. His dream of seeing his mom was fulfilled.
Only God can author such a wonderful life.
Some people asked ” Why did Dondon die that way?” If it as if his dead was meaningless.
Looking at the crowd that visited him last night – I beg to disagree. Dondon’s death is not the issue. He lived a life that brought meaning and purpose. The people who Dondon helped would be forever grateful to have met him.
Phil. 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

We will miss you, Kuya Dondon.
A tribute: http://lawrenceuy.wordpress.com/2010/01/29/paalam-kuya-dondon/
Kuya Dondon loves people and he loves connecting and serving them. He never gets intimidated with anyone. His life is really a powerful testimony.
I was moved by the messages told about him. Never knew he did such things.
Will surely miss him!
Knowing Don is a true blessing. He is in a happy place right now, with the Lord. Seeing that many people last night was overwhelming… a simple man with an unbelievable heart. I often tease him by calling him by his real name and he will always smile at me. I saw how this man served in the Kid’s Church… always there, always available, always serving. He lived his life in an awesome manner because of an awesome God.
I’m really with his story. May God bless him. wherever he is right now.
