Thank You Power

Posted by Dennis in devotion on 03 15th, 2010 | 3 Comments
There are times we forget about the most simple blessings in life. Where we feel we are entitled to the blessings when it all boils down to God’s grace. God reminded me today to thank him for the simple blessings that makes me rich. Lord SUPER THANK YOU FOR….. - a house I could call my own - a fully paid car - a wife who is loving, supportive and gorgeous - 2 wonderful obedient kids - the best job in this world - for wonderful friends - for allowing me to work with the most amazing people in the world - for the food that you bless my family everyday. -...

Learning from the prophets

Posted by Dennis in devotion on 02 23rd, 2010 | No Comments
Passed the middle mark of the 90 day challenge and I have been going thru the book of the Prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah. Here is the summary of the what Isaiah and Jeremiah are saying “OBEY GOD and BE BLESS” “DISOBEY GOD and LEARN THE HARD WAY” Lord may I choose to obey you everyday. May it be the path I choose everyday. I don’t need the hard way to learn my lesson.

name drop

Posted by Dennis in devotion on 02 11th, 2010 | 1 Comment
People who name drop don’t get it. “You see I am so so’s small group leader.” “I am trained by Mr. blank of the headquarter church” “I am the son of multi millionaire.” “I am the biggest tither of this church. You should know who I am.” Ok – I get who you are but name droppers should never impress us because I can drop a name that is above all names. “You know Jesus – He loves me and He saved me. He knows me by name. He knows my inside and out. Jesus  the King of kings and the...

Diet Coke

Posted by Dennis in devotion on 02 9th, 2010 | 6 Comments
Have you ever noticed overweight people in restaurants? They order a humongous serving of beef, pork and sweets and would usually end the order by saying “and a diet coke please.” Makes me laugh all the time. I do the same thing. I lie to myself. I tell myself eat all you want at least diet coke is there to help you lose those fats!!!! Reminds me of how we sometimes go back to our old ways of insecurity, lust, pride and sin but we add a little “diet Bible reading, diet prayer and a diet church attendance.” 1Sam. 15:22  ¶    ...

the principle of PLAY

Posted by Dennis in devotion, leadership on 02 4th, 2010 | 2 Comments
Yesterday I blogged about the secret to last in ministry. We have to PLAY. Yes PLAY and not pray though prayer is also a vital part of lasting long in ministry. Here is the principle of PLAY. Ex. 5:1 Afterward Moses and Aaron went in and told Pharaoh, “Thus says the LORD God of Israel: ‘Let My people go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.’ ” Ex. 5:3 ¶ So they said, “The God of the Hebrews has met with us. Please, let us go three days’ journey into the desert and sacrifice to the LORD our God, lest He fall upon us with pestilence...

I finally discovered the secret to lasting in ministry

Posted by Dennis in devotion, discipleship on 02 3rd, 2010 | 1 Comment
What is the secret to LASTING LONG in ministry? What is the secret to not getting BURNED OUT? What is the secret to mighty men and women of God who endured the test of time? Studies show that a lot of pastors quit after two years of ministry. Every year thousands of pastors quit every month and thousands of churches closes. Most of the time they have neglected to live out the principle that I am about to share. THE SECRET TO MINISTRY FRUITFULNESS AND LONGEVITY IS: PLAY. Yes play. I did not misspell the word. ( did I misspell mispel?) Not pray – though...

The Legend of Don Roque

Posted by Dennis in devotion, volunteers on 02 1st, 2010 | 5 Comments
Came from Dondon Rioque’s funeral Sunday night and was overwhelmed with hundreds of people waiting from outside because the room was packed. Who would have thought that a simple man like Don Roque would leave such a lasting legacy that people flocked to pay their last respect to this man. We heard his story last night. It was life changing. Dondon was an orphan. His parents left him when he was 8 months old. He grew up seeking for love and in the process of seeking for love he learned how to love. Dondon’s life was full of trials. He was diagnosed...

restrained

Posted by Dennis in devotion on 01 28th, 2010 | 4 Comments
Why do people fall away from the faith? When it seems yesterday they were so passionate for God, when yesterday it seemed that they are just so in love with Jesus and would do everything for Him. The problem lies with the heart. Their heart might have been restrained but never fully surrendered. I had a heart check today. Is my heart just restrained or is it fully surrendered? Is my life just restrained because the message convicted me of a certain area in my life but God has never really touched my whole being? Is my life just a facade? Do I know deep in...

Altitude determines your Attitude

Posted by Dennis in devotion on 01 27th, 2010 | 1 Comment
Here is an observation: People who are closer to God tend to have a better outlook in life. I was recently counselling someone who felt that life was getting boring, that he was underchallenged and life is not really as exciting as he thought it should be. He started complaining about trivial stuff and would usually just lock himself in his room. So I asked him: ” How is your faith in God?” And he said -” Not very good.” I’ve known this man for many years. He is a man of faith but something change when he started drifting away...
